The Maverik is Fly Racing's entry-level motocross boot, redesigned to keep the protection of the version before it at a price a rider starting out can actually justify.
The sole is where the work went: a four-stage design that keeps weight down while gripping properly. First a perforated plush insole, then an injected midsole using a fishbone structure that is light but strong, stiffened by a rigid in-mould steel shank that stops the boot folding over the peg. Above that sits a fishbone foam layer whose job is to take shock and vibration out of the ride before it reaches the foot.
The reworked outsole drops mass again and grips better than the boot it replaces.
