Fly Racing's Youth Maverik is the junior version of their motocross boot, cut two inches shorter than the adult and built with the same protection logic rather than a stripped-down one.
A 3D pre-shaped moulded plastic shin plate takes impact, a 3D moulded shift protection panel with textured grooves saves the boot where it drags on the frame, inner ankle protection in durable flexible plastic guards the joint, and a metal toe guard protects the sole. The leather heat shield resists melting against the exhaust.
The rear ankle is articulated so a young rider can still point their foot down while staying supported, an elastic gaiter seals the calf against debris, and the adjustable quick-lock buckles have an open design that keeps dirt from clogging them. Sizes 1 and 2 use two straps; every larger size uses three.
